9.         What are your rights regarding your personal information?

Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector and other privacy legislation gives you certain rights with respect to your personal information. Your rights vary depending on the laws that apply to you and the specific circumstances of your request.

In most places, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and the right to request that incomplete or inaccurate personal information be rectified. In addition, as noted above, where processing is based on your consent, you have the right to revoke your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing based on the consent prior to its withdrawal. In addition, you have the right to request information about the use of any automated decision-making systems we may use and the impact they may have on you.

Under European and UK laws, if applicable, you also have additional rights, which you may exercise to the extent that those laws apply. These rights include: (i) the right to withdraw consent to processing where consent is the basis for processing; (ii) the right to object to unlawful processing of personal information, under certain conditions; (iii) the right to erase your personal information, under certain conditions; (iv) the right to require us to restrict the processing of your personal information, under certain conditions, if you believe that we have exceeded the legitimate basis for the processing, that the processing is no longer necessary, or that your personal information is incorrect; (v) the right to portability of your personal information that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, under certain conditions; (vi) the right to object to decisions made by automated means that produce legal effects on you or significantly affect you, under certain conditions.

If you have any questions about your privacy rights, you can always contact your privacy authority. In Quebec, this authority is the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec:

In some cases, we may need additional information to validate your identity, in which case we will use it only for that purpose and then delete it.

Please note that we do not charge a fee for allowing you to exercise your rights. However, we may charge a reasonable fee for requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive, particularly because of their repetitive nature. We may also refuse to comply with such requests.

You also always have the right to lodge a complaint with your competent authority for the protection of personal information.
